Obi Worldphone, founded by former Apple CEO John Sculley, is finally making a serious leeway into the smartphone industry. The handset maker has now launched its first flagship device called SF1 as well as an entry level budget smartphone called SJ1.5. While SF1 is a design marvel, SJ1.5 comes with a premium design in entry level smartphone segment. There is no denying the fact that the handset looks much more premium than the price tag it comes with.
Design
We have already established that the handset looks like a million bucks despit the price tag that it comes with. It comes in a bar form factor with sharp upper edge and rounded bottom corners, which makes it comfortable to hold the device. Moreover, Obi highlights that the handset has a special fingerprint-free coating that ensures this device looks smudge free at all times.
Display
Obi has equipped its latest entry level handset with a decent 5-inch display for the viewing pleasure of its users. The display of the handset has an In-Plane Switching (IPS) panel that ensures accurate colour reproduction from any angle. This display comes with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and protected by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 3.
Performance and Battery Life
On the performance front, Obi Worldphone SJ 1.5 boasts of a Quad-core processor with a clock speed of 1.3 GHz. The processor is further supported by 1 GB of RAM for an enhanced performance. Also, users enjoy longer duration of usage owing to the 3000 mAh battery under the rear panel of the handset.
Camera Technology
Obi has equipped the new handset with an 8 Megapixels snapper on the rear panel, which is one of the best at this price point. The front panel of the device houses a 2 Megapixels camera for those inclined towards selfies.
Connectivity
On the connectivity front, this handset offers Dual-SIM connectivity and support for both 4G LTE and 3G. Other connectivity options in the handset include Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth, GPS and microUSB.

Obi has definitely managed to hit this one straight out of the park as no other device in this segment boasts of a premium design like this and specifications. For users who are looking for a device under INR 5,000, Obi Worldphone SJ 1.5 is the only way to go so far.
