The South Korean handset maker, Samsung has always been on a loggerhead with Cupertino-based tech giant, Apple. Now, the brand has launched a new device called Samsung Galaxy S7 Mini to compete with the upcoming iPhone SE. As the name suggests, this new handset is a trimmed down version of its recently launched flagship device and will be attractively placed under INR 30,000. Most features of the handset has been retained from the flagship device, which makes it one of the better value for money offering from Samsung. Here is a brief overview of the device for all those who are looking to buy this one.
Design
Since this is a mini variant of the flagship device, Samsung has not deviated much from the original design of the handset. It comes with same hybrid SIM tray, flushed camera module and metal/glass body. However, the mini variant is 9.9 mm thick, which might be a deal breaker for many.
Display
Samsung has equipped the Galaxy S7 Mini with a smaller 4.6-inch display that is an attempt by the brand at cost cutting. However, the display is still big enough to comfortably watch multimedia and play games for longer duration. Samsung has also pegged down the display resolution to 1920 x 1080 pixels from Quad HD, which still looks stunning owing to the Super AMOLED panel.
Performance and Battery Life
The new mini variant of Samsung's flagship device would come equipped with a powerful Octa-core processor clocked at 2.3 GHz. Samsung will be coupling the processor with a RAM of 3GB for an enhanced smoothness and performance. There is no information regarding the battery of the handset, however, one can expect it to be smaller than original Galaxy S7.
Camera Technology
This handset has been bestowed with the same 12 Megapixels primary snapper on the rear panel that features on the original flagship device. Its front panel has been equipped with a selfie camera with a resolution of 5 Megapixels.
Connectivity
The new smartphone will come with the same connectivity options like the flagship device including support for 4G LTE, 3G and dual SIM. It will also feature options like Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth and microUSB, the usual suspects.
Verdict
This handset would be a blessing for any one who is digging the all new flagship but do not have the budget for the same. Moreover, since this smartphone is in direct competition with upcoming Apple iPhone Se, expect Samsung to price Galaxy S7 Mini much less than the same. This will only benefit those who would like to experience flagship like features and build quality without spending a bomb.
