The Chinese handset maker, Xiaomi had launched its flagship device Mi5 at the recently conclude Mobile World Conference held at Barcelona. However, prior to the unveiling of flagship device, the brand went ahead and launched it new budget segment smartphone called Mi4S. With mid-range specs and affordable price tag, it is the successor to much acclaimed Mi4 from the brand. However, it also packs in a high end feature with a fingerprint scanner on the rear panel, which makes it one of the few budget smartphones with the same. Here is a brief overview of the device for those who are interested.
Design
The design of the new handset is one of the highlights with a slim and sleek profile that was also found on Mi4. This handset also comes with the same glass and metal body that was found on its predecessor. Rest of the design too remains the same except for the fingerprint scanner on the back, which means no expandable storage and non-removable battery.
Display
Coming to the display of the handset, this device comes with the similar medium sized 5-inch display on the front panel. This display comes protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 layer and offers a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The full HD resolution on a display of this size makes for a sharper picture and good viewing experience.
Performance and Battery Life
The smartphone has been equipped with a Hexa-core processor that handset tasks at a speed of 1.8 GHz. It further ensures a good performance by providing 3 GB of RAM to the processor for animation smoothness and performance. The battery on offer by the handset is a 3260 mAh unit that can last a good duration on a single full charge.
Camera Technology
The handset maker has equipped the rear panel of the new smartphone with a good 13 Megapixels primary snapper accompanied with a dual tone LED flash for good low-light photography. The front panel of the handset also has 5 Megapixels snapper for those who like to click selfies.
Connectivity
On the connectivity front, this handset comes with support for dual-SIM, 4G LTE and 3G for the convenience of its users. Besides, it also offers NFC, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, microUSB and Bluetooth to its users for added convenience.
Verdict
When it comes to value for money and premium build quality, Xiaomi happens to be leading the pack and Mi4S is not an exception. If priced right and under INR 15,000 this handset can be the one to bring the brand to the forefront.
