Yu YUNICORN

Yu YUNICORN

Rs. 12,999

YU Yunicorn is a good budget flagship

The sister concern of Micromax, YU has been launched in India as an answer to the Chinese brands with their online only sale model. This brand has launched a number of impressive handsets in Indian market, which beat the competition owing to their impressive specifications and Cyanogen OS. Now, the handset maker has gone ahead and launched a new flagship device called Yunicorn and it looks quite promising. This handset has already gone on sale in India on Flipkart and is being sold through flash sale. Here is a brief overview of the handset to know about what's and what's not about the device.
Why Should You buy?
Fingerprint Scanner: This is the first smartphone from the online brand of Micromax, that comes with a fingerprint scanner. However, unlike other budget smartphones in India, this one comes with the scanner on the front panel.

4000 mAh Battery: This is one of the better reasons to go for the new flagship device from the Indian handset maker. YU claims that the battery of this handset can easily run for a duration of 4 days, which is a tall claim and one that will appeal to Indian buyers.

DTS Audio: This handset is also one of the few devices that has been designed to appeal to music and multimedia lovers. It comes with DTS Audio system that offers dynamic volume leveling, automatic bass management and multiple filter types to provide an unparalleled audio experience.

Android on steroid: For some reason, YU has parted ways with Cyanogen OS and has launched Yunicorn with what it is calling Android On Steroids. This is basically Android 5.1.1 Lollipop operating system skinned by YU's Steroid launcher designed for speed and performance.
Why Should You Not buy?
Difficult to get one: This is probably the only con of YU Yunicorn so far as the handset is being sold by the brand through a flash sale model. It is easier to get other budget smartphones in this price tag without hassling with flash sales.
Any Alternative?
Motorola Moto G4 Plus: If there is one alternative to this new handset that can beat it right on, it is the Moto G4 Plus. Besides offering a good brand value, this is the first Moto G handset to feature a fingerprint scanner and 16 Megapixels snapper on rear panel. A must have for anyone who is looking for a device under INR 15,000.
